Kabar Oto, 28 Aug '25
Daimler Commercial Vehicles Manufacturing Indonesia (DCVMI) has released the first unit of the Mercedes-Benz 1626L Euro 5 bus chassis for the export market.
The 1626L Euro 5 bus chassis has been developed to support the company's export strategy, with a primary focus on ASEAN countries.
As the first model to be exported from this facility, the vehicle incorporates Euro 5 emissions technology, air suspension, a rear-engine configuration, and a space frame chassis.
The model is designed to comply with Euro 5 environmental regulations. With a target of approximately 60% local content for complete buses, the 1626L Euro 5 aligns with Indonesia's objective of increasing domestic added value.
The Cikarang facility, located on 150,000 square metres of land, has an annual production capacity of up to 5,000 Mercedes-Benz truck and bus chassis units.
Constructed with a total investment of IDR 500 billion (US$ 30.5 million), the plant integrates manufacturing processes intended to improve operational efficiency and product quality, while also contributing to industrial and community development.
Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), stated that the release of the first unit of the 1626L Euro 5 for export follows shortly after the inauguration of the new Cikarang facility.
