Autocar India, 29 Oct '25
Honda plans to launch the 0 Series SUV in India in 2026, according to media sources.
The all-electric SUV will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).
First revealed as a prototype at CES 2025 in January, the Honda 0 Series SUV is based on a newly developed born-electric platform.
The production model is scheduled for release in 2026 and will be introduced first in North America, followed by other global markets.
Exterior and interior
The SUV will be the first of seven models under Honda's 0 Series of electric vehicles. It is based on the Space Hub concept presented at CES 2024.
The prototype has a squared-off rear section that gives it an MPV-like stance. The design focuses on maximising interior space, with a large glasshouse to improve visibility. The bodywork is smooth and lacks sharp creases, which may aid aerodynamic efficiency.
Distinctive elements include a U-shaped tail lamp at the rear and pronounced front and rear bumpers that create a layered appearance.
Honda has stated that all 0 Series EVs will be software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and will incorporate technologies such as automated driving.
The company has developed a new operating system, ASIMO OS, which will be a core element of the 0 Series range. This system will control the ECUs responsible for vehicle systems, driver assistance, and in-car infotainment, and will support over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Technical details
Honda has not yet released detailed technical specifications but has indicated that all 0 Series models will be available in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.
The vehicles will use thin and lightweight batteries designed for efficiency. The design philosophy of the 0 Series EV platform is described as "thin, light and wise."
In a statement to media sources, Honda mentioned that the 0 Series EVs will use batteries ranging from 80kWh to 100kWh, providing an estimated range of around 500km.
The 0 Series SUV will be introduced in India to demonstrate Honda's electric vehicle technology.
Pricing information has not yet been disclosed, but the model is expected to be positioned in the premium segment.
