Segment Y : Volkswagen Bora GLI to be launched by December in China

The upcoming Volkswagen Bora GLI is a sporty variant of the China-only Volkswagen Bora sedan.

The Bora GLI will debut in the Guangzhou Auto Show in November and it will be launched in the China car market in December 2013. The Bora GLI comes with a speedy body kit and racy alloys.

The Volkswagen Bora is made in China by the by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. The price starts at 107,800 yuan (US$ 17,700) and ends at 148,300 yuan.

Engines: A 131 HP 1.4-litre turbo and a 105 HP 1.6-litre.

Sadly, the Bora GLI will not get a special engine and it will have to make do with the 131 HP 1.4-litre turbo. The GLI will likely be slower than the base car because it needs to pull more plastic around.

FAW-Volkswagen did a better job with the Volkswagen Sagitar GLI which got a 200hp 2.0 turbo, the same engine that powers the China-made Golf GTI, which is made by FAW-Volkswagen as well.
